Sumitomo Chemical has agreed with ITOCHU to sell all feed-additive methionine produced at its Ehime Works through ITOCHU's distribution network from April 2025. The deal expands an existing distribution collaboration that began in 2017.
The companies say methionine demand grows about 4% a year.
The deal changes distribution routes for Japanese methionine supply rather than adding new volume, so the direct price effect is limited. It supports steady methionine availability for poultry and pig feed makers.
