On February 24 the State Bank of Vietnam set its central rate at 24,646 dong per dollar, with the interbank selling reference at 25,828, both record highs. The central bank has raised its USD selling price three times since the start of the year to ease pressure on foreign exchange reserves, which fell after more than $9 billion in asset sales in 2024.
Official intervention limits the pace of dong depreciation but signals continued pressure on import costs for Vietnamese feed and grain buyers. The effect on feed prices depends on whether the central bank keeps the selling price tracking the rising reference rate.
