The EIA weekly US retail diesel benchmark rose 0.2 cents to $3.697 a gallon, the fourth straight small weekly move. ULSD futures on CME settled at $2.4358, well below their January high of $2.621, while retail prices have fallen much less.
Retail diesel sets most fuel surcharges, so the slow drift higher keeps freight costs steady for feed haulers. The gap between futures and retail suggests little near-term pressure on fuel costs.
