Chicken wing prices are up sharply ahead of the Super Bowl, with whole wings up 19 percent year-over-year in December while the national composite chicken price rose 5 percent. Total December broiler harvest fell 4 percent after HPAI losses of 5.6 million broilers last year and 1.6 million more so far this year.
Lower broiler supply from HPAI and holiday demand is tightening chicken wing supplies and lifting prices, which supports chicken and related protein prices for feed buyers.
