The Rice Exporters' Association formally asked India's Ministry of Commerce to lift the export ban on 100% broken rice. State reserves, including unmilled paddy, reached 67.6 million metric tons as of February 1, nearly nine times the 7.6 million metric ton target.
Lifting the ban would let surplus broken rice reach African and Asian feed and ethanol buyers, adding supply and pressuring prices.
After 141 past bearish trade events, Rough Rice moved a median +0.6% over 5 sessions (57% higher; middle half -2.3% to +2.4%), and -0.6% over 20.
