IFFO reports fishmeal production in January 2025 rose about 75% year over year, led by a 300% jump in Peruvian output. Fish oil output was up 71% over the same period, mainly driven by Peru.
A sharp rise in Peruvian output increases fishmeal and fish oil supply, which tends to pressure prices lower. The gain reverses some of the tightness seen in 2023 and 2024.
