Several listed Chinese pig producers, including Muyuan, Wens, New Hope Liuhe, and Haida Group, reported sharply higher 2024 profits in preliminary results released in January 2025. Muyuan projected net profit up roughly 499% to 522%, and Wens projected its highest profit in five years.
The rebound follows several years of losses in the sector.
Stronger hog producer profitability signals capacity expansion and healthier feed purchasing ahead, which supports demand for corn, soymeal and other feed ingredients. Expansion plans could also weigh on hog prices over time.
