Peruvian authorities set the first North-centre anchovy season to start on 22 April with a total quota of 3 million tonnes. The quota is the highest since 2018 and follows an IMARPE biomass assessment.
A large quota means more anchovy will be converted into fishmeal and fish oil, adding significant global supply. This is bearish for fishmeal prices, especially as cumulative Peruvian output is already running well ahead of last year.
