USDA's Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report showed corn consumed for alcohol and other uses at 465 million bushels in February 2025, down 10% from January and 6% from February 2024. Corn used for fuel alcohol fell to 421 million bushels, and DDGS output dropped 8% from January to 1.70 million tons.
Lower corn grind for ethanol reduces corn demand and co-product supply, which is bearish for corn and supportive for DDGS prices. The drop is a routine monthly data release rather than a surprise.
After 1,102 past bearish report events, CORN moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.8% to +1.3%), and +0.0% over 20.
