Peru's Ministry of Production published a resolution setting the first north-central anchovy season for indirect human consumption to begin 22 April 2025. The total allowable catch is 3 million tonnes, the highest in seven years, following an IMARPE biomass assessment.
The season closes when the quota is reached or if IMARPE recommends closure for environmental reasons.
A higher anchovy catch expands fishmeal and fish oil supply, which is bearish for fishmeal prices and supports cheaper marine protein for feed buyers.
