Platts announced an overhaul of its FOB Morocco phosphate rock assessment, effective July 3, shifting the basis to OCP contract prices and excluding spot trades. The assessment will be renamed to a CP version and continue using the same database code, with market feedback accepted until June 3.
Switching the benchmark to contract prices removes spot signals from phosphate rock pricing, which may dampen short-term volatility in reported values. Buyers should watch how the new CP benchmark compares with spot levels.
