Platts has proposed changing its FOB Morocco phosphate rock assessment, effective July 3, so the price reflects only quarterly OCP contract prices and drops spot transactions. The assessment will be renamed with a CP suffix and market participants can comment until June 3.
Excluding spot deals makes the benchmark less responsive to short-term market moves, which may dampen reported volatility in phosphate rock pricing. Buyers should expect the reference to lag spot conditions.
