Ukraine exported about 2.37 million tons of sunflower meal in September-April of 2024/25, down 29% and the lowest for that period since 2011/12. Shipments fell to all major destinations, including the EU (-25%), China (-18%), Egypt (-10%) and Turkey (-79%).
China's sunflower meal imports fell 55%, though Ukraine still holds 57% of that market.
Lower Ukrainian shipments reduce available sunflower meal in major importing markets, which supports prices. Buyers may see firmer sunflower meal offers as supply tightens.
