Moldova exported only about 160 tons of sunflower meal in April 2025 at an unusually high invoice price of about 14.8 lei/kg. The price spike came from one company's organic meal shipment rather than normal market conditions.
Ordinary sunflower meal exports from July 2024 to April 2025 fell to about 14,000 tons from more than 155,000 tons a year earlier, amid a crisis in Moldova's oil and fat industry.
The Moldovan price spike reflects a niche organic shipment and does not signal broader market tightness. The sharp drop in regular meal exports is a small, local supply loss that has little effect on global sunflower meal prices.
