Lean hog futures rallied on Friday, with contracts up $1.17 to $2.10, as the pork cutout rose $4.78 to $109.40. The CME Lean Hog Index was $94.13 on May 28, and pork export sales of 30,490 MT for the week of May 22 were down from the prior week.
A firmer pork cutout and hog index support hog prices, which can sustain hog production and feed demand. The modest export sales pace limits upside beyond domestic demand.
