Retail egg prices fell about 18% in April from March's record, though they remain up 79% year over year. Bird flu, which has cycled through US flocks since 2022, continues to force culling of entire flocks after each detection and to disrupt egg supply.
Persistent culling keeps layer numbers below normal, which limits demand for feed grains over time. Egg prices themselves do not move the feed markets much.
