Global fish oil production rose 34% year on year in the first quarter of 2025, according to IFFO data covering members that make up about half of world output. Gains were led by Chile, the USA, Spain and several African nations, largely against a weak 2024 Peruvian base affected by El Niño.
Higher fish oil output adds to the combined fishmeal and fish oil supply, which is on track for around seven million tons, the decade average. Ample supply points to softer prices, though sellers gain power if supply tightens.
