The US Department of Commerce has initiated a countervailing duty investigation into L-lysine imports from China, following a petition filed May 28, 2025 by the Lysine Fair Trade Coalition. The petition was accompanied by a parallel antidumping petition.
Commerce received supplemental responses from petitioners through June 16.
The investigation raises the prospect of US duties on Chinese lysine, which could reduce Chinese supply to the US and support US lysine prices. Preliminary determinations would be the next market trigger.
