China is set to make record purchases of rapeseed meal from India after imposing a 100% retaliatory tariff on Canadian canola oil and meal in March. India's rapeseed meal exports to China are expected to reach a record 500,000 tons in 2025/26, up from 60,759 tons the prior year.
In the first two months of 2025/26, India shipped 113,836 tons to China.
Indian meal is replacing Canadian canola meal in China, reducing demand for Canadian origin and shifting trade flows. Cheaper, competitive Indian supply also eases pressure on Indian rapeseed prices.
