IFFO reports Peru's first anchovy fishing season in the north-central region started April 22, 2025, a week later than in 2024, with about 70% of the 3 million tonne quota met. Peruvian fishing is expected to contribute 49% of fishing GDP, about PEN 1,177 million, and create around 50,000 direct jobs.
IFFO's 2025 estimates are 5.6 million tonnes of fishmeal and 1.2-1.3 million tonnes of fish oil.
Steady Peruvian production supports global fishmeal and fish oil supply. Feed buyers should see stable pricing unless catches fall short of the quota.
