Canadian feed barley is trading at C$315-320/t delivered in Lethbridge and C$290-310/t in Red Deer, with fall bids quoted at C$275-290/t. Carryout for 2024-25 is projected at only 500,000 tonnes, well below the 10-year average, and barley has stayed firm late in the crop year.
Imported US corn has been priced at a sharp discount to barley for July and August.
Historically low Canadian ending stocks support barley prices, and corn's discount may limit feedlot demand for barley, so the balance between tight supply and cheap substitutes will set the price path.
