The EU Commission has issued updated guidance and FAQs, and an implementing regulation that classifies countries by deforestation risk for seven commodities. The rules will apply to medium and large operators from 30 December 2025 and to micro and small enterprises from 30 June 2026.
The country risk benchmarking will determine the due diligence burden on imports from high-risk origins such as parts of South America and Southeast Asia. That could shift sourcing toward lower-risk origins and affect relative soy and palm oil flows.
After 554 past neutral policy events, SOY moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.6%), and +0.6% over 20.
