Peru's Production Ministry closed the first 2025 North-Central anchovy season on July 24 because of high juvenile presence in catches. Total catch reached 2.46 million tonnes, or 81.9% of the 3-million-tonne TAC.
Industrial fleets had 24 hours to finish landings and 48 hours to process.
The early closure reduces anchovy meal and oil output from Peru, which supplies about 20% of global fishmeal and fish oil raw material. That supports fishmeal prices for feed buyers.
