Peru's Ministry of Production set the 2025 maximum anchovy catch for direct human consumption at 150,000 tonnes, the same limit as last year. The quota applies to artisanal and small-scale extractive fishing.
It is meant to support food security and diversify seafood consumption.
The quota is small relative to Peru's total anchovy catch, so the effect on fishmeal supply is limited. It mainly signals that some anchovy is being steered toward human food rather than feed.
