GSFC, a Gujarat state-owned fertilizer producer, says DAP production is no longer economically viable because sulphuric and phosphoric acid prices have risen about 150% year on year. The company says DAP is in short supply in India and expects a possible subsidy revision from October 1.
Rising input costs and producer losses could cut DAP output and keep Indian import demand strong. This supports phosphate prices unless subsidies rise enough to restore production.
