Commercial bank dollar rates dropped after the move, with the interbank rate falling to 26,300 from a peak of 26,433.
The intervention lowers the dollar cost for Vietnamese importers in the near term, which can ease pressure on feed and fuel costs. The effect on global commodity prices is negligible.
