Feed barley and feed wheat in southern Alberta are trading around C$260 to C$270 a tonne for forward delivery, with prices expected to fall below C$250. Harvest is underway, lower feedlot cattle numbers and plentiful grass are reducing demand, and export interest is weak.
Prices across western Canada were mostly steady to lower in the week ended August 28.
Harvest selling and weak cattle-feeding demand are likely to keep Canadian feed grain prices under pressure until fall cattle runs resume. Buyers can expect better values in the near term.
