Analysts from UOB say the USD/VND rate has likely peaked after the dong hit a record low of VND26,436 per USD in August. The dong is expected to cool down by year-end as Fed rate cuts and export and FDI momentum support it.
The State Bank of Vietnam had sold about $1.5 billion of reserves via forwards in late August.
An expected easing of the dong would lower Vietnamese import costs for feed ingredients over the coming months. This is a currency outlook with little direct effect on global commodity prices.
