October lean hogs rose $1.725 to $100.525 on September 23, hitting a new contract high as cattle futures and fresh pork prices gained. The CME lean hog index slipped 36 cents to $104.98, and pork cutout rose 75 cents to $114.05.
Rising pork cutout and an uptrend in hog futures reflect firm meat demand and tight supply, supporting hog prices. Routine technical commentary adds little new supply or demand information.
