Argentina supplied 49% of EU sunflower meal imports in July-August 2025, while Ukraine's share fell to 40%. Ukrainian sunflower meal exports to the EU in August were only about 20,000-25,000 tons, the lowest since October 2021.
The drop reflected slower summer sunflower processing in Ukraine and seasonally high rapeseed meal supply in Europe.
Lower Ukrainian meal availability tightens the EU protein supply and shifts import demand toward Argentina. That supports sunflower meal prices while Argentine supply is elevated.
