China's National Grain and Oil Information Center reported that domestic soybean meal prices fell more than 2% in the week to September 26. Imported soybean costs eased slightly, but crushing margins for Brazilian beans shipping in November and December were negative, at -185 to -153 RMB/ton.
Spot crushing profit in southern China was also negative, at -179 to -110 RMB/ton.
Negative crush margins give processors little reason to crush, which weighs on meal demand and pressures meal prices lower. Weaker crushing can also slow soybean purchases.
