International rice benchmarks, US medium grain and Thai rice, reached their lowest levels in eight years, down about 50% from the 2023-2024 records. The declines are mainly attributed to record Indian production and exports after India removed earlier export restrictions.
Record Indian exports keep global rice supply heavy and push benchmark prices lower. European prices remain at record levels, which widens the premium over world prices.
