China's Ministry of Agriculture monitoring showed national average live pig prices at 14.10 yuan per kg in the second week of September, down 1.3% week-on-week and 29.7% year-on-year. Piglet and pork prices also fell week-on-week, while egg and beef cattle prices rose, and corn and soybean meal prices were unchanged.
Sharply lower hog and piglet prices signal weak producer margins and possible herd reduction, which would trim future feed demand in China. Stable corn and soymeal prices in the same period suggest no immediate feed-price shock.
