USD/CAD extended losses for a second day on October 28 as the US dollar weakened after the Conference Board's consumer confidence index fell to 94.6 in October from 95.6. The DXY eased to around 98.63 from an intraday high of 98.95, with both the BoC and Fed expected to cut rates by 25bp the next day.
Weaker US dollar sentiment supports the loonie and can modestly lift the USD cost of Canadian-origin commodities, though the move is small and mostly reflects rate expectations.
