Ukrainian processors have raised the acceptable sunflower acidity level from 2.5% to 5%, applying a 500 UAH/t discount per percentage point above that. Some batches show acidity above 10% as the harvest, at 9 million tons, falls short of last year.
Lower-quality seed reduces food-grade crushing and may shift volumes toward technical uses, tightening the supply of quality sunflower meal and oil. The shortfall gives modest support to sunflower-based feed ingredients.
