The USD-KRW rate closed the week at 1,440.3 won, down 9.5 won, and fell to the 1,429 range intraday. The decline followed verbal intervention by currency authorities and reports that the National Pension Service had resumed FX hedging.
Lower USD-KRW reduces the won cost of imported feed grains and meal priced in dollars, supporting Korean buyers' margins. Analysts see the rate turning downward, but further official intervention or retail outflows could reverse the trend.
