Qatarenergy reportedly sold 45,000t of granular Middle East urea in the high-$410s/t fob for February loading, about $20/t above the previous week's business. Southeast Asian granular urea also traded up to $410-415/t fob that day.
The deal was done under a tender held on Wednesday.
Firm Middle East and Southeast Asian urea prices, driven by India and Australia demand, point to higher nitrogen costs for feed grain and crop producers east of Suez. Buyers should expect prices to keep rising in the near term.
After 176 past bullish trade events, Urea moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.4%), and +1.6% over 20.
