Canada and China agreed to cut electric vehicle and canola tariffs as part of a reset in relations. Carney said China will lower its tariff on canola seed to a combined rate of about 15% from 84% by March 1, and anti-discrimination tariffs on canola meal and peas will be removed from March 1 until at least year-end.
Lower Chinese tariffs on canola seed and meal are expected to reopen a major export market, supporting Canadian canola meal prices and competing oilseed meal supply.
