South Africa's National Treasury cut its weekly fixed-rate bond auctions by 450 million rand to 2.55 billion rand, while inflation-linked sales were unchanged. The move followed a budget that lowered the 2025/26 gross borrowing requirement to 563.4 billion rand from 588.2 billion rand.
The bond issuance cut is a domestic fiscal and debt-market event with no direct link to feed grain supply, demand or prices. Its effect on the rand is marginal.
