The USDA FAS New Delhi February 4 oilseeds update trimmed India's 2025/26 rapeseed harvested area to 9.1 million hectares and cut rapeseed crush to 10.7 million tonnes from 10.9 million. It also lowered soybean planted and harvested area, leaving the import reliance for vegetable oils intact.
Lower Indian rapeseed crush trims domestic meal output, while rising Chinese buying of rapeseed meal supports demand. India will keep relying on imported vegetable oils, so the price effect is limited.
