China set its final anti-dumping duty on Canadian canola at 5.9%, down sharply from the 75.8% preliminary rate imposed in August, ending a 17-month investigation. The duty takes effect March 1 and runs five years, and it sits on top of the standard 9% import tariff for a total of 14.9%.
A much lower Chinese levy restores access to Canada's largest canola export market, supporting Canadian canola and meal prices and reducing the discount buyers have paid for Canadian supply.
