China's Ministry of Agriculture monitoring of 500 county-level markets showed pork, eggs, chicken, beef cattle, mutton, fresh milk and fattening-pig feed prices rising month-on-month in the fourth week of January. National average live pig prices rose 2.5% week-on-week to 13.39 CNY/kg but remained 18.8% below a year earlier.
Corn and soybean meal prices were unchanged.
Firmer live hog and pork prices support Chinese hog margins, which can sustain feed demand for corn and soybean meal. The price gain is modest, and feed ingredient prices were flat, so the impact on feed-ingredient prices is limited.
