A week-old strike at a tugboat company has disrupted vessel loading at Rouen, France's largest grain export terminal. Eleven ships were queued, and the port operator Haropa had authorised another tug operator to help clear congestion.
Loadings were picking up again, including two wheat shipments that left on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rouen handles about half of France's grain exports, so the delays slow EU wheat shipments during peak season. Slower loadings can widen the spread between European origin and futures prices, though the disruption is short-lived.
After 163 past neutral logistics events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (53% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and -0.3% over 20.
