Retail eggs averaged $2.50 per dozen in the latest CPI report, down 58% from a year ago and the lowest since late 2023, as U.S. laying flocks recover from avian influenza losses. Wholesale Grade A prices fell from above $8 to below $1 per dozen earlier this year before ticking up ahead of Easter demand.
Rebuilt layer flocks mean more supply, so wholesale egg prices stay well below last year's levels, though Easter demand and any new HPAI outbreaks could cause short-term rebounds.
