Senator Roger Marshall introduced the Lowering Input Costs for American Farmers Act to eliminate tariffs and countervailing duties on phosphate fertilizer imports from Morocco. The bill would revoke the 2021 countervailing duty order within four business days of enactment.
If enacted, removing duties on Moroccan phosphate would increase US access to the world's largest phosphate exporter and could ease domestic fertilizer costs for feed grain growers. Passage is uncertain, so the near-term price effect is limited.
