A Bank of England survey of financial firms conducted April 15-17 showed a median expectation for Bank Rate at 3.75% by end-2026, versus an earlier expectation of a cut to 3.25%. Firms no longer expected cuts but did not expect hikes either.
Interest rate futures were pricing at least two quarter-point hikes.
The gap between survey expectations and market pricing reflects uncertainty over UK rate direction, which matters for sterling and UK borrowing costs. It has no direct bearing on feed commodity supply or demand.
