South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture will import an additional 20 million fresh eggs from the US and Thailand in June and July. The move responds to a KREI forecast that June egg output will fall 3.6% year over year amid a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak.
The government also expanded its discount for 30-egg packs and will import 9 million broiler hatching eggs.
Government imports add supply to a market squeezed by avian flu losses, which may ease egg prices but do not directly move the feed commodities tracked here.
