AHDB estimates GB barley use in animal feed for 2025/26 at 4.457 Mt, up 35 Kt from March but down 43 Kt year on year. Total UK barley availability is 7.835 Mt, and human and industrial demand is the lowest on record.
Steady feed demand with weak malting and distilling demand keeps barley cheap relative to other feed grains. Lower ex-farm prices are already reflected in the estimates.
