USDA's Economic Research Service reports February 2026 table egg production of 597.3 million dozen, up 5.1% year over year, on a 5.9% larger average layer inventory. Layer losses to HPAI continued in February, but replacement pullet supplies were record high.
Expanding layer numbers add egg supply, which supports the price weakness and margin pressure seen across the sector. Feed demand from layers stays steady-to-higher as the flock grows.
