China's National Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association raised its guaranteed supply guide prices for ammonium phosphates on June 17, by 200 to 400 yuan per tonne. The largest increase was 400 yuan for 64% DAP, which reached 4,950 yuan per tonne in North China.
The increases followed a continued surge in upstream sulphur costs, and the associations also set up channels for reporting unauthorized price hikes.
Higher sulphur costs are squeezing phosphate producers' margins, which pushes up DAP and MAP prices in China and supports global phosphate values. Official price guidance and reporting channels may cap how far domestic prices rise, but the cost pressure keeps the bullish tilt for phosphate inputs.
